Art for ACT 2008
The area's premier fundraising event features an auction of works by world-renowned artists and a guest celebrity auctioneer on August 16.
Joan Rivers hosts a previous Art for ACT event
| In the past 19 years, Sharon Stone, Joan Rivers, Meryl Streep and other big-name celebs have gotten the bidding heated on world-class art during Arts for ACT. The fine art auction and fête, held this year at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs, benefits Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Inc., a non-profit organization helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
The late Robert Rauschenberg – famed artist and a local civic-minded resident – always counted among the artists and guests at the annual event. This will be the first year his physical presence will be missed, but he will still be there in spirit, represented by works of his art up for auction.
Guests are invited to bid on works by Rauschenberg, Darryl Pottorf, Tony Bennett and other big-name artists. More than 100 pieces of art go up on the auction block, including oils, watercolors, collages, mixed media, sculptures and jewelry. This year’s celebrity auctioneer will soon be announced, so stay tuned.
Only 900 tickets for the silent and live auction at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point are available. Donation is $125 each. Tickets include dinner, raffle and the always exciting live auction. For the latest event news, visit http://actabuse.com.
