Slide Into Summer Sun Splash Family Waterpark in Cape Coral unveils three new slides this summer.
The X-celerator is the park’s steepest, fastest slide – this watery glide will have you free falling at a rate of up to 40 feet per second. The Terror Tube starts out as a gradually descending enclosed flume but soon sends you careening down a wide-open, sharply falling chute. On the Thunder Bump, an open slide designed with 264 feet of speed bumps, you’ll get your heart pounding and adrenaline rushing. Sun Splash, known as Southwest Florida’s largest waterpark, offers a variety of slides, pools, food options and water-themed fun for all ages. Spend the day floating on the Main Stream River Ride, coasting down slides, frolicking with little ones at Top Spot, snacking at the Calypso Café or just lounging poolside. The park also offers group outing opportunities and cool aquatic programs. Sun Splash began its 7-day-a-week, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. summer schedule on June 9. The park is located at 400 Santa Barbara Blvd in Cape Coral. For rates or general information, visit www.SunSplashWaterpark.com or call 239-574-0558. Looking for another spot to cool off the kids? The new Lakes Regional Park, opened in March, brings some summer relief to south Fort Myers. Its 4,000-square-foot water play area is decked out with misting palm trees, a dew drop umbrella, a ship’s mast, water cannons, water arches, foam geysers and more. Admission to the water play area and park are free. Both are open daily from 8 a.m. to sunset. Parking is $1 an hour or $5 a day. The park is at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers. For more information, visit www.LeeParks.org or call 239-432-2034.
